Lavender's photographs have inspired me for a long time, so a month ago, I suggested we work on a book together. In her gorgeous photos of leaves and puddless, I see the stuff of fairytale. She chooses to photograph things, many people would walk by, me included. I am grateful to her for bringing them to my attention: the leaf grown monstrous, the puddle as the entrance to the fairy world, the mushroom so huge it towered over Alice. She has inspired me with those images and I am so excited we are working together.
I will not be posting new works for the book, since i need to go downward like Persephone and be dark with the new poems. Right now they are such newborns that they can't stand the light.
If you haven't stopped by her blog, it is a good place to see forgotten things made new to our eyes.

yeah i told her i was jealous of the meet up... so that means i have 5 friends in washington... blah... maybe someday i'll venture up there... and what i have missed of the north is the photography elements are so huge... i'm happy for the two of you and would love to own a signed copy someday!

thanks Candy. Would love to actually meet you too. I know what a dry red state can be like. Colorado felt like exile for me till I found like minds in hiding. I knew it was bad when I told my funky therapist neighbor that I was an atheist and she told me not to say that too loudly. Atheist is my public persona. I generally keep my beliefs to myself, where I feel they belong unless someone else is in great need.
In Seattle I have encountered a new age element which drives me bonkers. Anyone with the need to judge others as inferior, whether fundamentalist Christians or New Age spiritualists makes my skin crawl.
I want to make a shirt that says "Don't judge me and I won't judge you." Different location, different fanatics.

thanks for encouraging us in our project Candy. We will keep everyone posted.

I think to savor the work is important. It is not a product, but a process. I did get tangled up earlier in thinking product and wanting to run into the woods with a pot on my head, babbling. It is good to be working. Thanks for reminding me of this. I need reminders like these that echo my own inner voice's wisdom.

I just remembered there is something in the woods at a large wooded area in Tacoma I NEED to photograph for the book! It just hit me! Will send you a message about it. See if you are interested. I hope my photography can do your poems justice.
I hope my poems can do justice to your photos. I really think both will fit well together. I like how you see things, I walk by. You are a joy to work with.
