It's Saturday night, and I'm at home, having movies marathon. Both are Martin Scorsese's with Leonardo DiCaprio in it. Not bad, huh?
When you decide to be something, you can be it. That's what they don't tell you in the church. When I was your age they would say we can become cops, or criminals. Today, what I'm saying to you is this: when you're facing a loaded gun, what's the difference?
- Frank Costello, "The Departed"
I think my period had been really missing me. I thought she'd come on Monday, but she came this evening. Two days earlier. I still feel my tummy's squeezed, though.
And she came while I was watching "The Departed" on TransTV. My vision got distracted tonight because Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon looked alike to me in this movie. Hmmm.
It's kinda a happy ending movie, because everyone finally got killed and died.
But I was wrong. Because few minutes later, DiCaprio woke up from his death in "Gangs of New York".
I was actually tired of watching these movies. They both are full of riots and blood. It reminds me of my current situation. My mind is in riot, and I'm having period. But I keep watching anyway because I got nothing else to do, and I might get some lessons of life from watching movies.
I learned that power isn't always everything. Powerful people have power to do everything and to have anything they want in life, but actually they are lonely people. It's hard to find one sincere soul to be your friend and your trustee when you're up there on the top.
When you kill a king, you don't stab him in the dark. You kill him where the entire court can watch him die.
- Amsterdam Vallon, "Gangs of New York"
Then I asked myself. I'm not powerful, but why then I share and feel the same loneliness Frank Costello and Bill Cutting had?
My father told me we were all born of blood and tribulation, and so then too was our great city. But for those of us what lived and died in the furious days, it was like everything we knew was mildly swept away.
- Amsterdam Vallon, "Gangs of New York"
That's very true. And if every baby knew this, nobody would ever want to be born...
It's a funny feeling being taken under the wing of a dragon. It's warmer than you'd think
- Amsterdam Vallon, "Gangs of New York"
Anyone wants to be my dragon?
Thanks for dating me this Saturday night, DiCaprio. Great movies, and I enjoyed them a lot.
